The Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra is busy preparing for an exciting new concert series at Medina Theatre, Newport, this winter.

The first concert of the season is on Saturday 17th November starting at the new time of 7.15pm.

The concert will open with the popular Overture to “The Merry Wives of Windsor” by Otto Nicolai. This will be followed by Schumann’s famous piano concerto with soloist Christopher Guild.

It is a welcome return to the Island for Christopher as he wowed the Island audience as the piano soloist in the Piano and Trumpet concerto by Shostakovitch in March 2010.

Christopher is a sought after artist, often performing with the top London Orchestras, as well as giving solo recitals around the country, performing at the Wigmore Hall, South Bank Centre and on the radio.

The first concert will conclude with Rachmaninov’s melodious 1st Symphony.
