During the summer of 1965 David Bowie played the Ventnor Winter Gardens as Davey Jones and the Lower Third. Islander Les Payne recorded Bowie's Star for RCA in the 70s. A fictional 3 character ten minute play dedicated to Davey Jones, wrapped around a set by Les who becomes ageing rocker Johnny Ringo in the play. Pyschedelia at full tilt.
The play begins just after Johnny Ringo's comes off stage at the Winter Gardens and is set along the shore path to Bonchurch. Johnny Ringo believes the sky people are coming in on the wings of the stars. Davey joins Johnny with a map and a torch. While Johnny waxes lyrical on the beings beyond the stars star struck Sue arrives to ask for Johnny's autograph. It isn't long before tensions are raised and the sky people come to take Johnny with them.
