Following the sell out success of the Kliphuis Trio concert, West Wight Arts Association’s last concert of the season will be given by the Piatti String Quartet and Pianist Thomas Luke on Saturday May 11th in the Memorial Hall, Freshwater, starting at 7pm.

The distinguished Piatti Quartet are widely renowned for their ‘profound music making’ (The Strad) and their ‘lyrical warmth’ (BBC Music Magazine). Since their prizewinning performances at the 2015 Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition, they have performed all over the world and made international broadcasts from many countries.

Born on the Isle of Wight and educated at Ryde School, Thomas was the keyboard category winner of the prestigious BBC Young Musician 2020 competition. He has been hailed as a “trailblazer” by Steinway and Sons, and his award-winning performances, widely praised for their exceptional musicality and sincerity, have been broadcast on national television and radio.

The quartet will play two works by women composers, Ina Boyle’s String Quartet in E minor and Charlotte Harding’s Iorsa including an addition to this short piece which will constitute a world première. They will then play Mendelssohn’s passionate quartet in F minor before being joined after the interval by Thomas Luke for Dvořák’s lyrical Piano Quintet in A major.

Tickets at £16.00 (£2.00 students and children) are available from www.westwightarts.co.uk or Totland Parish Office on 756028.

Please note that the concert will start at 7.00pm.
