Monirah Hashemi was born in Iran to Afghan parents. Now living in Sweden she is exploring the use of culture as a tool for championing citizenship and democracy. Sitaraha (The Stars) is her new show, and we are thrilled to be receiving it at Quay Arts.

A storyteller collects the tales of women,weaving traditional Afghan dance and song through her stories. She tells us about Gul–Begum and the other women enslaved during an attack in the central provinces of Afghanistan 130 years ago; the story of Sara during the civil war; and what happened to Halima in Afghanistan in 2014.
