This Vectis DFAS free taster lecture is to encourage new people to experience our social and informative evenings with Vectis DFAS at the Quay.

This year we are offering ten lectures for the price of nine.

The lecture
This lecture aims to consider some of the avant garde art movements that were formed in the 100 years between 1900-2000 – principally in Paris, London and New York and asks why these works were produced when they were – and what was happening in the life of the artist at the time.

It is a lecture that should enable one to put ‘isms’ into boxes – cubism, surrealism, conceptualism, minimalism etc and to enjoy a light hearted stroll through some of the most well known Modern works of our century.
