Are you a man and a musician? Age UK Isle of Wight’s (Age UKIW) Men in Sheds project is looking to diversify its activities away from traditional shed activities using saws and hammers, to bringing together musicians of all abilities for a regular ‘Jamming’ session.

There are Men’s Sheds already established around the island where more practical skills are utilised. The new Acoustic Music Shed will be utilising another skill that many men have in playing musical instruments. This ‘Shed’ is not about who is the best performer, but rather a chance to be part of a social group that evolves from the love of music.

Quay Arts will be hosting an informal information evening on Wednesday 27th July at 6pm where you can find out more and have the opportunity to discuss how this could work. We are keen to ensure that this group is user lead, so your input at this stage is really valued . The Men in Sheds Project is part of the Age Friendly Island initiative. Age Friendly Island is an exciting partnership funded by the National Lottery through the BIG Lottery fund making the Isle of Wight a great place to grow old, while tackling social isolation. Encouraging older adults to take an active role in their communities, and enabling their voices to be heard.
