A PIGEON SAT ON A BRANCH REFLECTING ON EXISTENCE (Swe)2015 Dir: Roy Andersson Cert 12A (UK) 10th/11th Nov 2015 7.30pm Runs:101 mins Cast: Holger Andersson, Nils Westblom, Viktor Gyllenberg. In Swedish (subtitled).
In 37 blackly comic sketches we follow Sam and Jonathan, a pair of hopeless novelty joke salesmen, on a journey through the absurdity and tragicomedy of the human condition. In the surrealist spirit of Monty Python and Samuel Beckett, we are not sure whether to laugh or cry as they travel through a drab and lonely world in search of a party that never materialises.
Each interrelated scene creates its own place in a shocking world that moves from fantasy to nightmare.
