St James’ Church in Yarmouth is now over 400 years old and the tower is an important landmark both at sea and on shore where, in particular, it acts as the town clock. The elements over the past centuries have taken their toll and the tower and its roof are in urgent need of repair.

The Friends of St James’ have been holding numerous fund raising events and already have undertaken some essential work, but there is still a long way to go.

This concert by the Phoenix Choir will be part of St James’ Day celebrations over the weekend of the 25th July. It will be the first performance in the West Wight by this popular 50-strong mixed choir and their visit is eagerly anticipated. They will be singing songs ‘From Pavarotti to Presley’.

The concert will be held in the church on Friday 24th July at 7.30pm, with drinks served in the church garden from 7pm to 7.20pm.

Admission is free but there will be a retiring collection to assist in the further financing of the tower repairs.

It is very much hoped that you will support this worthy fund-raising event.
