David Thornton is a folk singer & songwriter. Originally from Sheffield, and now living and working on the Isle of Wight, David regularly records and performs with an ever increasing playlist of his own songs as well as stripped back acoustic songs by other composers. David gave what he thought was his last public performance in 1989 and sold his guitars and piano but returned to song writing and live performances in 2009. He now performs regularly on the Isle of Wight and occasionally in other parts of the UK.
2014 saw the release of his CD “Ship of Ghosts”, of which David says: “These songs have been floating around for a while… Some of them were bitter memories that needed exorcising, others captured happy times and hope for the future…. There’s a real mixture of thoughts, ideas emotions all out at sea on this album”
As well as playing his own compositions, David plays classics by Neil Diamond, John Lennon, Plain White Tees, Bob Dylan, Don Mclean, Elvis and many others.
