Ventnor Film Society presents Tracks

Tracks is the true story of Robyn Davidson who, in 1977, set out to trek across 1,700 miles of Australian Outback with just a dog and four temperamental camels. In need of funding, she agrees to the occasional company of a National Geographic photographer. Craving solitude and self-discovery, she walks west from Alice Springs to the Indian Ocean, in the tradition of the lone female adventurer, and faces many emotional and physical challenges along the way. At times she meets tourists, travellers and a couple of Outback farmers, but the the most touching and amusing encounter is with Mr Eddy, who guides her through the desert's sacred sites.

Magnificent widescreen images depict the perils of the inhospitable landscape and Robyn's exploration of the arid red sands of the desert with its sandstorms, snakes and disorienting sun. A lyrical and meditative journey across the harsh beauty of the Outback, and testament to a remarkable adventure.

It is essential to reserve a seat by emailing [email protected].

Screenings take place on alternate Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm and latecomers are not admitted.

Entrance is £5 payable at the door and is not necessary to be a member of the Arts Club to attend.
